Catalogue figures are not enough
Two panels showing the same colour rendering index can render a complexion very differently, because an average index hides weakness at particular wavelengths, especially in the reds. On skin, that is exactly where it shows. So we measure our sources in the shop and display those readings next to the manufacturer's sheet. Sometimes they agree. Sometimes they do not.
Rigging is the least glamorous line and the most useful
On a set, what falls almost never falls because the fixture was poor. It falls because the stand was too light, the boom overloaded, the safety wire missing. This part of the quotation is small and nobody talks about it at trade shows. It should be settled first, before the choice of sources.
